What we collect

cities.gg is read-only by design. You do not create an account. We collect:

localStorage on your device: which cities you liked, your last-watched slot, your chat nickname (if you set one), and an A/B test bucket. This data never leaves your browser.
Anonymous engagement events: when you like, share, or send a chat message we record the city, slot, action, a one-way hash of your IP (cannot be reversed), and your user-agent string. Used only to keep popular cities at the top and detect spam.
YouTube embeds: videos play through youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube may set its own cookies once you press play - their policy applies.

What we don't collect

No accounts, no passwords, no email addresses, no precise location, no third-party advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling. We do not sell or share data with anyone.

Cookies

We set one signed cookie called cgg_ab to remember your A/B test variant for 90 days. It contains no personal information.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to travel partners (hotels, tours, activities) are affiliate links handled by Awin. When you click one, Awin may set a cookie on the destination site so the partner knows the booking came from cities.gg and we can earn a small commission. The cookie lives on the partner's domain, not on cities.gg. You can clear it via your browser at any time. See About for our affiliate policy.

Chat moderation

Chat messages are reviewed by an automatic content filter. Messages that violate our guidelines may be hidden. Repeat offenders are blocked by IP hash for 24 hours.

Ambient chat prompts

Quiet rooms occasionally show short ambient comments generated by an automated companion. These are clearly tagged in our admin tools, are never used to reply to real visitors, and never collect data about you. Their only purpose is so empty rooms feel a little less empty.

Data deletion

Clear your browser localStorage to wipe your local data. To remove an anonymous chat message you posted, email [email protected] with the timestamp.
